Stand up for palestine
The fourth project this semester is oil painting. We had to pick a picture to display over our face while standing in front of a projector. I wanted to do something more meaningful to me. Recently, there was a war between Gaza and Israel. I have family there and we were all afraid for them. So I searched in google the Palestine flag. This picture is exactly what I was going for. It reminds that we Palestinians must stay strong and stay together.
The colors of the Palestinian flag is green, red, white, and black. Don't be fooled, but the black you see is not really black. I made my own black. I used blue, crimson red, and burnt umber. I mixed these three colors with linseed oil and that is the result. My favorite part of the project is getting my hands dirty and even my face at times. The challenging part of this project was showing the texture of my scarf and show the wrinkles in them along with the dark spot. I kept mixing and painting on the canvass and hoped for the best result. Now my scarf looks realistic. Everything is going great! At first, I was freaking out because I never worked with oil paint and I was terrified to mess up the project. But I believed in myself and my teachers believed in me and look at the result!
