"Always Dreaming"
For this project, we were to write a letter to who or what ever we want to, but the catch is no one will read it. The letter can be meaningful but it has to be something that we wanted to get off our chest. I wrote a letter to society and their actions towards not only me, but any Muslims. For most of my life, I have been called a terrorist. I have been told that by many people that they can not hang around me because they are afraid of being blown up. I was called Bin Laden's niece. All of these things made me want to quit school very badly, but then I kept my head high and ignored anything they have said to me. If anyone has anything to say to me against my religion, STAND IN LINE! The letter is mostly about how I just wish that all of this could stop happening. Why can we not get along? That is what inspired the title and my project. I always dream of the day that I will not be called a terrorist, but it will not happen, so that is why it is a dream.
It was not easy to come up with an idea. I spent more than two weeks trying to figure it out with the help of Mr Varney, some of my peers, and my sister. My sister mentioned the flag and I was into, but something told me to do more. Luckily, Mr Varney and I had a talk and we came up with the wish idea. The flag on the right side is the Palestine Flag, and of course the right side is the American Flag. The mediums I used is palette wood, paint, and burning. I am planning to burn the flag, paint over it, but not like I painted the girl, and burn over the paint. This project is very meaningful to me and I can not wait til the end result. Instead of painting over it and burning, I burned the flags, then I water painted. Meaning the paint is mixed with water and when I painted the flags, it looks like it is stained.
